Summer is finally here and I couldn't be happier! I decided to kick it off with a few tips for your upcoming Summer Parties. These ideas would be perfect for all of those Summer holidays, which are just around the corner.
I wanted this party to have a classic Americana flair to it, while also being modern and trendy. To go along with my classic Americana theme, I decided to serve Hebrew National Franks®, which I bought at Walmart, with a twist! This recipe is so delicious and a better for you version than a basic frank. I also served some fresh berries in turquoise crates - which also doubled as party favors, and organic lemonade to quench my guests' thirst. To help set the summertime mood, I played some classic American rock on my record player, and let my guests take pictures in front of my vintage American flag, with sparklers and pinwheels!
Handkerchief Banner DIY
- Vintage Handkerchiefs
- String
- Clothes Pins
Directions
First, decide how you'd like to hang the banners. I originally was going to do it criss-cross, but decided to just hang one above the other, instead. Next, fold your handkerchiefs in half to form a triangle. Drape them over the string, and connect them at the corners with clothes pins.
Spicy Honey Mustard Recipe
- 1/2 cup Gulden’s Mustard®
- 1 cup Mayo
- 1/4 cup Raw Honey
Directions
In a bowl, combine mayo, Gulden’s Mustard, and raw honey. Whisk together until combined completely. Chill, whisk again, serve! I used this on the gourmet hot dogs I served at my party and it was so good! (recipe below)
Fry Sauce Recipe
- 1/2 cup Hunt’s® Ketchup
- 1/2 cup Mayo
- 1 tbsp Gulden’s Mustard
Directions
In a bowl, whisk together Gulden’s Mustard, Hunt's Ketchup, and mayo until completely combined. Chill, whisk again, and serve! I love to eat mine with sweet potato fries!
Gourmet Hot Dog Recipe
- Hebrew National Franks
- Ezekiel Bread Hot Dog Buns
- Diced Avocado
- Arugula
- Homemade Honey Mustard (recipe above)
Directions
On a grill, cook the Hebrew National Franks for five minutes, then flip and cook for another five minutes. Also toast the ezekiel bread buns on the grill until golden brown. Once cooked, top the bun with the Hebrew National Franks, then add the diced avocado, fresh arugula, and drizzle on the homemade honey mustard.
This recipe was such a great twist on an American classic and perfect for all of your Summer grilling parties! It's so easy to cook up a whole bunch for large gatherings!
