How To Make The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie (Recipe)

If you follow me on Instagram, then you know all about my journey to find the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe. After 2 years of editing, this homemade chocolate chip cookie recipe is finally perfected! When I say everyone loves these cookies, I truly mean it. I love giving them to friends and neighbors as gifts as I know they will always be a big hit.

While the instructions may seem a little extreme, each step plays an important part in getting that perfect chocolate chip cookie. Of course, you can make these without all the "fluff" and they will still taste amazing! They might just turn out a little flat—nothing wrong with that! But if you follow the recipe exactly, you'll get perfect cookies, every time, that are slightly crunchy on the outside and slightly doughy in the middle with a flavor that can't be beat!

THE BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE RECIPE

Yields 20 Cookies | Preheat to 370° | Bake 10-12 min

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup High Quality Butter (slightly softened)

  • 1 cup Dark Brown Sugar

  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar

  • 2 large Eggs

  • 2 tsp Vanilla Bean Paste

  • 2 cups Oats

  • 2 cups Kamut or High Quality Flour

  • 1 tsp Baking Powder

  • 1 tsp Baking Soda

  • 1/2 tsp Salt

  • Chocolate Chips

DIRECTIONS:

In a mixing bowl, cream together butter, dark brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix with a cookie paddle for two minutes. Add eggs and vanilla, then mix until creamy.

Using a blender or food processor, blend oats into a fine powder, then pour into a separate mixing bowl. Add regular flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, and whisk together.

Slowly add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, a little at a time, mixing until well combined. Repeat until all of the dry ingredients have been incorporated.

Add mix-ins of choice (I usually add about a cup of semisweet or milk chocolate chips).

Using a large cookie scoop, pack the dough in using the side of the mixing bowl. Then press the dough onto the cookie sheet with the scoop, to make sure it keeps a solid shape.

Finally, bake the cookies at 370°F for 10-12 minutes. I find 11 minutes is the sweet spot with our oven!

Once the cookies have slightly cooled, use a spatula to move them to a cooling rack. I recommend eating as soon as they’re cool enough to tolerate, because it’s my favorite when they’re still hot!

Store in an airtight container and enjoy for up to a week.
