Redwoods Nightlights // New Zealand Pt. 6

After our long morning and afternoon exploring Taupo's Huka Falls and Mt. Ngauruhoe, I figured my sister would be ready to head to our Airbnb for the night, as we had an early flight back to Australia, the next day. But, to my surprise, she was ready for more! So, we decided to drive over to Rotorua to do the Redwoods Nightlights treetop walk.

The Redwoods treetop walk would be a beautiful daytime activity... But, my sister and I were intrigued by their Nightlights option, which meant we had some time to kill. While driving around town we had spotted a cat cafe, and decided it would be a cozy place to pass the time... We drank our hot chocolate while the cats played at our feet, and I couldn't help but fall in love with one of the cats, which was particularly small. While the cats were adorable, and we were able to stay warm and dry, I honestly wasn't the biggest fan of the cat and cafe combo...

Once the sun had set, it was time for us to head over to the redwoods! It hadn't rained at all, during our entire trip. But, this evening was an exception... So, we threw our rain jackets on, left our cameras in the car, and began our tree climb.

Even if it was a wet and cold night, the treetop walk was still beautiful! The colorful lights and glowing lanterns made me feel as though I had stepped into a fairyland. By the end of our walk, we were both soaked, and still had to drive two hours in the pouring rain to our accommodation, which was a bit nerve wracking. But, in the end, it was all worth it.

And just like that, it was time to leave New Zealand. While we were only there for a short time, both my sister and I fell in love with that beautiful country! I pray we can both return someday, soon!
