Visiting Goblin Valley State Park

One of my favorite State Parks in Utah is Goblin Valley. Its a quiet park, filled with sandstone goblins and formations that transport you to another world. The goblins rest inside a valley, surrounded by a wall of eroded cliffs, set against a bright blue sky. The scenery makes it easy to forget that you’re in the middle of Utah, rather than some far off planet.

A couple months ago, my friends Steve, Jessica, and myself decided to take a day trip down to the park. We met early in the morning, which allowed us to have ample time in the park, before dark. (These short, Winter days are tough for travel.) We didn’t have any set plan or schedule, or even specific hikes we wanted to do. Rather, we spent the day wandering amongst the goblins and towering cliff-sides, until we were too tired and hungry to continue.
